I have been learning the ins & outs of the garment district and how a major label operates. Working on the Spring 2011 show was incredible- and I am continuing to enjoy my experience with this company!

Internship with Linda Asaf Design in Austin, Tx

During my internship with Linda Asaf Design, I was able to influence design decisions while also altering patterns and embellishments for couture garments.

This summer I was responsible for getting three runway looks, for our show in June, from concept to production. Some I draped myself and others I adapted from existing patterns or made them from scratch to fit the model's measurements .

I also had the opportunity to cut and sew the garments myself (or bundle for a seamstress with a sew guide) .

It was an amazing opportunity and I learned so much about managing the time line of a show piece.

Graphic Design for Runway Event

I created some promotional material for the 2009 Runway to Heaven fashion show in Austin, TX. My images were used both on the website and for electronic postcards.

Classical Tutu: Sapphire Fairy - May 2010

This is a classical tutu I created from scratch to fit Kara from Dance Repertory Theatre.

It includes 12 layers of hand-pleated & hand-dyed tulle, 15 bones (spiral & steel) in an extremely fitted bodice, and my first and possibly only experience with panty ruffles.

It was used in 12 performances with the Austin Symphony Orchestra for the Young Peoples Concerts reaching around 28,000 students.

Spring Collection 2010

This collection of three looks was inspired by feeling the sun warm my skin. I wanted to create something aesthetically simple and structural.

The dress uses a shimmer organza with complex draping to play with reflection. The structure is further manipulated by two small, horizontal bands.

I created the illusion of light and shadow by draping a sheer layer of fabric over areas of the short and pant.

Bridal Jumpsuit

I wanted to create a bridal look that ignored some of the usual accoutrements of bridal femininity.
My inspirations for this work ranged from WW1 uniforms to the fierce determination of the character Sarah Conner in Terminator 2. I wanted to clothe a woman who would choose something different and decisive for such an important day.
